Dr Suhail Naik,President DAK said that "it was a disturbing news for us last night when we heard about the arrest of Dr Ajaz Rasool by police personal. Though DAK has not been able to establish any contact with the said doctor however according to sources and as per the media reports he was attending his uncle at District Hospital Anantnag, who was not keeping well and was admitted in the hospital. He left the hospital at late evening hours and while on his way home he was stopped by some unknown persons who asked him for a lift. He, on humanitarian grounds allowed them to board his vehicle. The said persons escaped from the vehicle and left their luggage in the car when the car was intercepted by the police party. While searching the vehicle as per media reports some objectionable material was found in the car and after that the said doctor was apprehended by the police and is in the police custody till now" Dr Naik further said that “the said doctor has no direct role in the incident and has been arrested for none of his fault". DAK said that detailed press report will follow after the facts become clearer and once we are able to make contact with the arrested doctor to know his side of story. DAK appeals Director General of Police Mr S P Vaid to take a humanitarian approach in the whole matter and release the said doctor immediately.
